You know if the thing about WLF is true and stuff are there other avenues? I have a couple designs almost ready for the contest but a few friends tell me that there are other options that would possibly yield better results. I don't know. Guess seeing what you wrote made me think.

steveholtvstheuniverse:

Like, if you’re a beginner artist and don’t have enough time to properly sit down and push out new designs then the WLF contest might do you some good if you want to undersell your design for quick cash.

The thing is though, once you sell your design to them then that’s it. You can’t put it up on Society6, RedBubble, or any other sites that offer that sort of service. That design is no longer yours, it’s theirs.

If I were you, I would just look for other options and ways to get my work across. So far Society6 has been doing pretty good with me and while it’s not a lot of money, I at least still OWN my designs and can do with them what I want and when I want.

What Steve said!

Hey there! Do you sell any #HorseFamous March on a website or anything?

Hi!

I don’t really have much in terms of an online shop, but most likely will be selling overstock online once convention season has slowed down a bit and I can take a breather. The ribbons have a tendency to sell out, but we’ll see!

That said, I do have #HorseFamous shirts on my RedBubble shop for giggles and Capper also has a rad #HorseFamous shirt you can check out here!

Come visit me in the BronyCon vendor hall, table #303!

Hey guys! Shown above are some previews of some rad stuff I’ve been working on for this year’s BronyCon.

Charity Auction:

 • "Dazzle," the fourth in my charity auction exclusive "Rainbow" series, this time featuring Rarity! One of a kind, embellished with Swarovski crystals, and will be signed by voice actress Tabitha St. Germain prior to the auction.
 • Collaborative Shadowbox set of 6 constructed by The-Paper-Pony; I made Pinkie Pie’s!
 • One of a kind special edition Brony Cookbook, cover art by yours truly!
 • A super secret charity auction project that will be revealed first to my Patreon supporters this Friday (7/25) and then publicly 8/1 during BronyCon. Get hype!

Other new neat stuff and updates!

 • One of a kind Princess Luna piece, embellished with Swarovski crystals, for silent auction at my table
 • Official 11x17 FlufflePuff prints inspired by the P.F.U.D.O.R. animation!
 • Convention exclusive Daring Do postcard, which comes free with the purchase of 2 prints!
 • All prints, past and present, pony and non-pony, including the new Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash print and the upcoming “mugshots” print shown on Twitter
 • Vinyl decals have all been restocked and now with the addition of Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo!
 • #HorseFamous and Not #HorseFamous badge ribbons are restocked!

That’s about the gist of it- hope to see you guys there! <3

Since February 2014 WeLoveFine has been hosting their first every bi-weekly My Little Pony Season 4 contest. While the system had it’s flaws, it still worked to churn out a new design rated most popular by the fans every two or so weeks. This was done with the promise of a $250 prize and the…

Also important. I don’t want to associate with a company that will allow and REWARD contest cheating despite confirming to be aware of it happening.

A Work in Futility: The WeLoveFine Experience

steveholtvstheuniverse:

As many of you are well aware, WeLoveFine is a shirt company that boosts “T-Shirts designed by fans for fans” motto. Their slogan and idea is simple enough, hire fans/artists to work with their acquired licenses and selling those shirts to said fans/artists.

They hold design contests that allow them to gain a better idea of what will sell and in turn lead artists on with the promise that they may potentially be hire by WLF under their MightyFineArtist program - a program that would allow artists to submit their work whenever and to gain commission from their art rather than one fixed flat rate.

The MFA is invite only but WLF insists that if an artist holds enough contest wins under their belt that they may be admitted into the program. They claim that they treat their artists fairly however, this ultimately isn’t how it goes down over at WLF.

So yeah, this is one of the big reasons why I decided to pull any of my remaining contest entries and refuse to enter anymore. (It’s a bummer, cause I planned on submitting Mary Sue and How to Train Your Dragon designs.) I’ve had 6 shirts produced through them, 4 of which were contest winners. I entered other contests as well and scored pretty well, and my designs generally seem to be well-received. I don’t have to prove jack squat to them, and I’m done playing their game.

Let this be a lesson- beware of “contests” like these that are actually just free spec work. Beware of being led on with false promises such as, in this case, employment.

tl;dr: Be careful, because even companies that boast about being fan-friendly might try to take advantage of you.

If you have overstock after con season is over, will you be selling it online like last year? There are so many of your prints that I'd love to buy, but I didn't have the money at Trotcon.

Most likely, yes! Probably around September (after SacAnime) when things really slow down and after I fully settle into my new apartment. c:

Sketch commissions are open again!

Hey peeps! Same drill as last time- sketches are about $15 - 20 per character on average. Email me (leekfish at hotmail dot com) with your character reference (canon, OC, pony, not pony, I really don’t mind whatever as long as it’s PG) and I’ll provide a quote! Payment is via Paypal to the same email address. Or, you know, tips and donations are also welcome… ;p

They’ll be posted to Twitter as I finish them and scanned in batches for emailing back to their respective commissioners. Also, if you’re going to BronyCon, BronyCAN, SacAnime, or Nightmare Nights, I’ll have all sketches available for pickup!

Night time reblog! Could really use the funds for con expenses and recouping expenses from making/shipping charity auction pieces, so please spread the word~ <3

New Daring Do postcard for my BronyCon vendor table (#303)!
Postcards are convention-exclusive and you can pick out one for free if you buy two large 11x17 prints!
Was trying out some new brushes on this one. Sort of a test-run for a technique I’ll be using on my next print!

"Reunion"
Commission for stevestreza based on one of the end scenes in the Season 4 Episode “Trade Ya” when the trade is called off, and Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash are reunited! Because pony hugs are adorable. This will be available at all upcoming cons as a print, starting with BronyCon! Was trying something new and playing around with a colored pencil brush to try and go for a look that would help emphasize the speed of the tackle-hug. Because cute.Just seeing this now?
